The Book of Eli
The Book of Eli follows the journey of man named Eli trekking across a barren wasteland and views the obstacles he encounters. This post-nuclear war apocalyptic world is dry, waterless and hectic. Some villages have been formed but many areas are terrorized by bandits. Eli is in possession of the last known Bible on the planet and in a vision from God, he is told to carry it West and bring it to a safe place. All books were destroyed in this world to create more "order." So a book such as the Bible, would have a great deal of influence amongst the people of this wasteland.
When stopping in a village to charge his iPod, Eli is sort of abducted by a wasteland lord and taken into his custody. The man believes Eli has this book and will do anything to get it or even find out if Eli has it. This furthers the depth of Eli's chaos as he just wants to head West and reach the sacred cosmos where the book will be safe. Eli eventually escapes due to some handy firearm work and escapes off into the desert with one of the lord's slaves. Although he is forced to leave the book to maintain his safety. As the trip draws to a close, Eli is in greener pastures and sees the ocean. He is met by armed personnel and taken to the ruins of Alcatraz where art and culture are being restored and revitalized.
Alcatraz is the cosmos. It is revealed that Eli is blind and does not need the book anymore because he has spent so much time reading it that he has memorized it word for word. To the shock of the wasteland lord and the bandits when they finally open the book they learn that the book is in Braille and they have no way of deciphering. They are forever locked in chaos by this, even though they have unlocked the book.
