Monster's Inc.

Monster’s Inc. surprisingly has a lot of symbolism in it. It is interesting how the monsters in Monsters Inc are all expected to scare. This can be related to stereotypes that we experience in real life, whether that be for race, religion, sexuality, etc. Certain people are “supposed” to behave in a certain way or they are considered the weird ones. The monsters exhibit that well.

Also, the doors symbolize a transformation between the world of the monsters and the real world. It is also a change of mindset in the fact that these kids are all scared of monsters but in the monster’s world, that is their job to power the city; not even all monsters scare for a living. This is an interesting movie to think about having any deeper meaning because it has always been a light, kids movie that I have enjoyed. Realizing there are deeper meanings allows me to give it a new purpose.
