Bloodsport

One of my all-time favorite movies! I am a huge fan of fighting movies and honestly just a sucker for a little violence. JCVD, while he may not be the greatest actor of his time, does not disappoint in his performances physically.
When U.S. Army Captain Frank Dux goes missing from his post to compete in a highly competitive martial arts contest in Hong Kong called the Kumite, he is pursued by US agents tasked with bringing him back. The contest has been held for many years and is seen as the ultimate combat for all ways of fighting. Known for its brutality, the contest often can lead to deaths, as that is one of the ways to quickly win.
Dux befriends another American by the name of Jackson and the two form an unlikely friendship. During their first few days at the contest, they realize that the fan favorite, Chong Li, is extremely skilled and brutal in his style. The two men progress and Jackson is matched up against Li. After an early knockdown by Jackson, Jackson feels Li is out and begins to celebrate too early. Li continues to unleash punishment on Jackson again and again until he is beaten unconscious. Dux soon realizes that his only chance of redeeming his friend is to beat Li and take the title. All of this is while being pursued by the US agents wanting him to return to the States.
Dux is able to use his years of training and redeem his friend by beating a cheating Li with a series of combo attacks and winning with a fair style.
