Film Techniques Dainen Brass
Bunny
This comes across as somewhat of an odd story, with a rabbit chasing a moth around the house. However it uses Quality between dark and one focused light in which the moth chases after. Works towards the religious narrative of dying.
Harold and Maude
This movie uses the effect of shallow focus on movie scenes. Initially you could easily be confused easily by focusing on the conversation between the two women and not catch the prank of setting themselves on fire in the background. This leads to a close up shot of Harold and is his mother in which he is giving a devious smile before cowering under his mother's death stare. This image that helps work towards the narrative that is painted by Harold who only searches for emotional recognition from his mother.
Northfork
The movie Northfork gave the constant feeling of the end that was coming. It did an excellent job of this by not eliminating color or making it really dark. Instead it’s achieved this by using lighting that is really bleak. This is best exemplified in the coffin on top of the car scene. The coffin alone conveys death. Looking around the car you can see the overcast, grey skies which give a certain emotion along with the mountains to it.
Paris Texas
The big thing I took from this movie is how far apart that people so close can be to each other. The Angle of framing and point of view used in the scene where the husband is talking to his wife in the brothel is amazing. Depending on how you see and portray people, it may seem like they have perfect lives, however a closer look or a better angle shows you how incomplete some people's lives really are relative to what they may portray.
Pink Floyd
The no education scene was really intriguing to me by how systems can brainwash us similar to religion. Religion is a good thing, but also very powerful and with the wrong priest can lead to bad midrash of the written word. This one uses bright colors to evoke emotion being very bright, almost to match the passion of the music and messages the author is trying to convey.
